Next stop: San Francisco. And better news, after a mix up with our flight we now had a First Class ticket which were pretty excited about. The flight wasn’t until 1:46pm and hotel check out was 10am, so we thought we’d spend the morning in the Delta Lounge.
Well, the Delta Lounge was the plan. You’d assume a first class ticket would include a ticket to the lounge, but apparently not in this case. So now we had 2.5hrs to kill in the lounge area.
We bought some overpriced yoghurt cereals and a coffee from Starbucks, then buckled in for our wait in the departure terminal area. Fortunately we had Sea Salt & Paper card game to keep us occupied which Adam won the best-of-3 series 2-1.

One good thing about first class is we got to board the plane first. Another good thing was we had seats 1A and 1B and we got some beers and snacks for the flight. It was only a 1h20m flight but it was a pretty good experience.
Touchdown into San Francisco was about 3:15pm and we navigated the BART system to get ourselves a train downtown to our Airbnb, after a short walk from Union Square.
The Airbnb was pretty nice. It was a private bedroom in some dudes house, but it was very modern and in a good spot in town. Accommodation prices are insane here. This little bedroom was costing us $1500 for five nights and that was one of the cheaper options we found.

After a little rest, we decided to go for a walk to the Chase Centre where the Golden State Warriors were playing the Houston Rockets.
We were super keen to go, but ticket prices were insane. They were beyond $500ea, things are honestly just ridiculously priced here compared to what they had been in previous trips.
We waited around for a while and was still checking for tickets during the second quarter, hopefully to get some luck like the soccer yesterday, but prices had only “dropped” to $431ea, so we gave up on that idea and found a pub to watch the end of it, as well as having some dumplings and fried rice for tea in the restaurant next door to the stadium.

The Warriors ended up losing by double digits and Steph Curry only scored 3pts in his 33 minutes, so probably a good thing we didn’t get in. It was also a good result for the Timberwolves in the super tight race in the western conference, especially given Denver also lost at home to Indiana.
This pub we found was alright, but one beer cost $25 because they poured a large size instead of the cheaper $16 one. Have I mentioned the prices here are ridiculous.
After the pub stop, we found perhaps the shittest supermarket we’ve come across as we were looking to stock up with breakfast for the week. It was actually so bad we ended up leaving and finding the Wholefoods Supermarket.

We learnt it’s not just beer and accommodation that’s expensive, it’s everything! For context, a box of normal size raisin bran was $15. By now, we were starting to realise this was going to turn into a very expensive trip.
With breakfast sorted for the week, we headed back to the room and finished the night watching the season 3 finale of White Lotus that we had been looking forward to. Not a bad end to the day!
