Onwards to San Jose

Getting used to sleep ins now, we don’t roll out of bed for breakfast until about 9:30, then it was oats with honey and bananas, jam toast, a coffee and some sultana bran – our breakfast of champions!

It was sad that we were leaving Sacramento, the room was awesome and the city was beautiful, but it was time to pack up and move on yet again.

We made our way out to our poor half-abandoned looking car which was parked under a tree dropping an obscene amount of pollen and made tracks to San Jose!

Our first stop along the way was a town called Stockton. There wasn’t a lot happening there, so we drove through the main street and stopped into Starbucks for a quick coffee and a yogurt.

On the road again

Next on the agenda was an equally quaint town called Fremont – but before we arrived, Adam pulled a bit of a surprise rabbit out of his hat.

A few miles out from Fremont, he diverts the map to turn off a little sooner and as it turns out, he had hunted down a bloody Jimmy Johns and had been keeping it a secret for five days!

On our last road trip around the US we lived on Jimmy Johns, which is a bit of a thinking man’s Subway. We order our favourite veggie sub, grab a pack of their delish salt and vinegar chips and are in heaven as we finish every last bite!

Jimmy Johns for lunch, finally!
Jimmy Johns, it’s so good to see you again

Onto Fremont which we used as a place to restock and grab a few things from Target – which I might add still have little to no chocolate anything for easter, which is only a week away!

No Lindt bunnies for us this easter at this rate! We drop into a board game shop and come out empty handed as the game prices are more expensive than at home, then make tracks for San Jose.

We arranged a parking permit with our Airbnb hosts when we were only an half an hour away (oops), then we park up, check in and make ourselves at home.

Linnie emersed in the Adobe ‘Experience’

The room was impressive yet again and in such a great spot overlooking a park. We rest up for a bit, then head out to see the downtown area and stumble upon the Adobe headquarters and their “experience” (don’t even get me started on that terminology…) that consisted of an interactive room with three walls that moved when you touched them, and a small area with a museum like history lesson about the software brand.

Range of Adobe products from over the years

Then it was onto looking for a place to watch the NBA Play In games. We end up at a fancy-ish restaurant and sit up at the bar while we watch the Atlanta Hawks get a touch up from Orlando Magic – then it was onto a proper sports bar to watch the Warriors take out the Grizzlies in another tight finish.

We walk back to the room, well some of us walked, others (Adam) walked the entire way home like a penguin as he needed to do number twos and the toilet in the bar didn’t have a door.

Watching the Warriors with locals

So it was waddling home in pain then groaning as we took a wrong turn and added about 10 minutes on then groaning again when the code to the door wouldn’t work the first three tries.

Unlucky for Adam, the host was downstairs as we walked in and was up for a chat, poor old Adam had to excuse himself and practically run upstairs to use to the bathroom. We chatted with the host and shared Airbnb stories until it was time to call it a night.

Another day down with more exploring of the beautiful San Jose to come tomorrow!
