Road trip to the Coast

Another amazing sleep in this morning, we made plans for the day while tucked up in bed.

After chatting to our hosts last night, they gave us some great suggestions, so we loaded up google maps, smashed out some breakfast and was back on the road again for our last road trip for this leg of the trip.

First up was a drive to the very upmarket town of Carmel-by-the-water. This town was like a little shining jewel along the coast.

Picture walking into a Jane Austen novel where every shop, house and restaurant was a quaint building oozing character.

The lovely streets of Carmel

The main street was filled with little boutique shops, nooks and shopping arcades, there was even a dedicated shop just for dogs.

Getting peckish, we take the suggestion from our hosts to try our one of the top restaurants called La Bicyclette, but with a line out the door and stupidly expensive food (minimum of $40 per lunch meal) we instead decide to hit up the “gourmet” grocer and get some snacks to take to the beach instead.

We pull up a spot under a tree and enjoy our lunch overlooking the water, it was far to cold for us to take a dip, even for Adams standards which was surprising as he has been known to skinny dip in glacier fed rivers…

Point Lobos was a beautiful area

We have another walk around then make our way back to the car and head to the very scenic Point Lobos which, after a mini hike, gave us stunning views out across the ocean and the rocky shoreline.

Our last stop for the day was a town called Monterey. Nothing overly special to see here but we wander around and give ourselves the task of finding some easter eggs.

We still couldn’t believe that Americans didn’t milk the cow of easter like we do at home, but supermarket after supermarket still had nothing!

Finally found some easter bunnies!

We spot a Walgreens and finally! A Lindt bunny and a little boxed bunny was purchased then devoured only minutes after – Happy Easter!

The next NBA play in game was on, so we decided to avoide the crazy peak traffic and settle into a nice bar/restaurant and watch the game for a while. Miami was handing Chicago a fair ass kicking and after a full bottle of San Pellegrino we decide to make tracks at 3 quarter time.

We only hit a smattering of traffic on the way home we get back to our Airbnb, finish off our beach picnic snacks for dinner along with some breakfast 2.0 as we had to use it up before tomorrow.

Too bad we’re a week early for The Big Lebowski

Finally we take the stairs up to our room then settle in for the night watching another episode of Black Mirror and catching up on the RAW that we went to as we couldn’t hear a thing with their echoing microphones from the nosebleeds.
