Today was our last day in San Francisco, so rather than spend it in the city, we had planned another road trip. This was the road trip planned by Adam up to the area of north of San Fran.
The morning started with our usual breakfast of oats, raisin bran and toast, then we headed to our car not long after 10am to start our road trip.
Unfortunately we were greeted with a parking fine slip on our windscreen for about $110 AUD. Not the greatest start to the day!
First up was a drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to a little coastal town called Sausalito. It’s a beautiful little spot across the bay with great views of San Fran.

Next up was a 15-minute drive to Tiburon which was even more beautiful than Sausalito. We learnt that a lot of famous people have lived here such as Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams and Klay Thompson. We’d much rather be living here than San Francisco, I can tell you.

Here we bought ourselves a coffee and cinnamon scroll then made our drive to the next stop at Muir’s Overlook. This was a pretty cool spot with views along the coast where the San Andreas fault line is located.
Basically where the north and pacific plates are crashing together and forming a new mountain range. Would love to see how it’s going to look in a million or so years from now!
Next on the agenda was Bolinas which didn’t really bowl us over. It looked like a poor mans version of the previous two towns we’d visited. Our original plan was to go all the way north to Tomales point but it was going to be a 3hr round trip, so we knocked that idea on the head.

Instead we did a quick stop at Stockton Beach, then made our way to the Golden Gate Bridge view which was incredible to see. On the way back we went to Ocean Beach as well as Sutro Baths, then decided to head back to the hotel.
By now it was getting late and we wanted to watch the Timberwolves vs Grizzlies match at 6pm. We went looking for a sports bar and settled on Underdogs Cantina which had lots of tv screens and Mexican type food. It was actually our first sit down meal for tea this trip so far.

The location was good and we got talking to the bar man who was an interesting sort of guy. At three quarter time of the basketball we decided to head back to the room and listen to the rest on the radio.
We finished the night catching up on WWE Smackdown and watched the first episode of the new Black Mirror season, then it was time for some sleep. Not a bad way to end our San Francisco stage of the trip!
